Why future designers won’t come from Art School

This article is pretty heavily biased, and ignores a lot of the benefits of attending art school, like good taste and learning how to and how to be critiqued. But he's right about a business background (or even interest) being an important factor in design now. My advertising and marketing majors were far more useful in my development as a designer than any of my art classes. I learned a lot more about typography and code on the internet than I ever did in school. The most interesting design jobs to me these days are a blend of design and business.
